Shannon RC International Athletes.

The club would like to wish the following athletes all the best in their international career:

Erin Coll:

Erin is representing Ireland in the Home Internationals in Nottingham England from the 26th -28th july.She will compete in a JW8+ and JW4+.

Lauren Mc Hugh/Ruth Gilligan: 

Lauren and Ruth have been selected to represent Ireland at the Coupe de la Juenness in Lucerne Switzerland from the 1st -4th of August.They will compete in a JW4- and JW 8+.

Conor Carmody:

Conor has been selected to represent Ireland at the Junior World Championships in Trakai Lithuania from the 7th – 11th August.He will compete in a JM4X.

Jane Gilligan/Conor Mc Gowan:

Jane is representing UCD in the Senior Women’s Pair.

Conor Mc Gowan is representing St Michaels RC as a cox.

Both are members of Shannon RC.


This is a pnenomenal achievement for the athletes,club and their parents who have all played a very important role in getting them to this point.The dedication shown by the athletes in achieving their goals have been outstanding.All the hours and kilometres  spent training on the water in annacotty throughout the winter months and all the gym work and erg sessions have finally come to fruition for these athletes.

Remember this…. A champion is someone who does not settle for that day’s practice, that day’s competition, that day’s performance. They are always striving to be better.

The difference between Ordinary and Extraordinary is that little Extra.
